The repair comes to you
Hauling broken equipment to a shop takes a trailer, a truck and usually a full day. Most repairs don't need the trip. I weld at your home, on the job site, on the farm or in the campground.
Outdoors I use stick welding. The rod carries a flux coating that shields the weld as it burns, so a breeze can't blow the protection away the way it does with gas-shielded wire welding. Stick also handles thick, weathered steel well. For you, that means a sound structural repair right where it broke.
The weld itself is a small part of the job. Most of the time goes into finding why it failed, grinding back to clean metal and fitting the parts tight. Work that needs a flat table and fixtures goes to the McMinnville shop, and I still handle every step myself.

What I do
- Excavator buckets, booms and sticks, covered under heavy equipment repair
- Spring hangers, couplers and hitches, covered under trailer and hitch repair
- RVs and campers, in the campground or at the roadside
- Brackets, mounts and receivers made to fit on site
- Old steel cut out first, covered under steel demolition
- Mild steel, stainless and aluminum, at any thickness
On site or in the shop
Jobs we do most on site
Neal's Mobile Welding takes on nearly any steel, stainless or aluminum job. These are the calls that come in most, and the bigger jobs the truck handles in the field.
The calls we get most
- Cracked brackets and mountsA bracket that split at the old weld is ground back to clean steel, rewelded and given a gusset, so it doesn't crack in the same place again.
- RVs and fifth wheels, where they sitSuspension brackets and spring hangers that let go at a campground. Repaired on the spot so the owners can tow it home.
- Farm gates and cattle panelsBroken hinges and split panels welded in the pasture, and the frame squared again so the gate swings and latches.
- Forklifts and shop equipmentBrackets, hitches and attachments welded in place. One winery forklift got a hitch ball welded through a fork within an hour of the call.
Bigger jobs
- Structural repairs in placeCracked posts, frames and beams cut back to sound metal and rewelded with 7018 stick rod, the rod used on my AWS D1.1 structural test.
- Trellises and frames too big to haulSteel trellis frames fitted and welded right on the deck they cover, a second story up.
- Parts made on the truckWhen a part is discontinued, we make it fit. A reel mower bedknife was repaired the same day, and a truck camper got a custom build two hours from home.
- Stainless work on a deadlineA stainless job with many parts that had to line up. I stayed four extra hours into the night to finish it on time.
On-site work
Fifth wheel, campground
A suspension bracket failed after the owners had parked. I arrived first thing the next morning, welded and reinforced the bracket, and they were back on the road.
Forklift, before harvest
A hitch ball needed welding through one of the forks. I arrived within the hour and finished it the same visit.

$250
call-out, within an hour's drive
Covers the trip and about the first two hours on the job. Custom work is estimated free from your photos. Repairs are priced on site.
What changes the price
- DistanceInside an hour's drive, the $250 call-out covers the trip. Longer drives are priced and agreed before I leave.
- MaterialAluminum and stainless take more time and shielding gas than mild steel.
- AccessIf the truck can't park close, running cables and gear to the work adds time.
- PrepRust, paint and grease come off first, and cracked or thin metal gets cut out. A weld is only as strong as the metal under it.
- Plate and partsNew steel, extra plate and replacement parts are added to the bill.
Not only did he come within an hour, he completed the job in record time.
What customers say
Google reviews from on-site jobs, word for word.
Our 5th wheel broke a mounting bracket in the suspension and we didn't notice it until we were in a campground. Neal was recommended for the job. Though he was busy, he was able to reschedule some things and come out the next morning. Neal showed up first thing with his truck and was able to weld and reinforce the bracket and get us back on the road. My son is also a welder later took a look at the repair and said that Neal did quality work. Neal provided excellent service and quality work at a fair price. I highly recommend.Read the whole review
Neal was a life saver! He traveled two hours to reach me to do a truck camper repair while we were on a road trip. He’s very skilled and was able to do a custom build on the spot. I’d give him ten stars if I could. Highly recommend
Called with an emergency, he was here within 30 minutes and got the job done better than I expected. Will only use Neal for now on.
Just had Neal re-attach our trailer hitch and I was impressed. He was very helpful and well prepared with whatever he needed to get the job done on-site! He went above and beyond to assure the attachment would hold, which was very much appreciated. I would recommend him to anyone!
Incredibly happy with the quality of work and the service… These days it’s usually only 1 of those or neither… I got lucky and Neal was able to show up same day. Arrived on time and literally worked non stop without taking a break. When we ran into a problem because of a mistake the previous welder I hired made not only did Neal fix it but stayed an extra 4 hours into the night and finished the job to help me meet a deadline. It was a complicated job a lot of different parts that had to line up and all stainless steel. His truck is literally a Mobile fabrication shop with every tool to get the job done. I feel lucky to have found him and will only be using him in the future!Read the whole review
Neal did an EXCELLENT job on repairing my boat trailer. One of the main supports for the back of the trailer was TOTALLY rotting through. Neal made something out of nothing, in my opinion, giving me a great finished product and great service - especially coming to my house to do this. I would recommend Neal for any welding needs.Read the whole review
Neil was fantastic to work with. Came to our rescue the same day to fix the issue. Highly recommend his company 👌🏻😊-D
Neal is a skilled professional. His work is beautiful. He cut out all the rusty spots on my old Datsun & welded in all new metal. The work was exactly what I wanted, & done on my driveway.🙂🙂🙂Neal is also a very cool, and very reasonable guy. He makes it really easy to do business. His railings are awesome too. I've seen them in person, & again, I was very impressed.Read the whole review
Neil has been our go to guy for all our welding needs. He has worked on several of our company vehicles and does an outstanding job. He’s on time, courteous, cleans up after the job is finished, and charges a fair price. His work is something I would definitely recommend to others who are seeking welding services.
I would highly recommend Neal to anyone needing any sort of welding work done. The day after Christmas I had a 5 inch aluminum guard rail that was broken at the seam and was bent out of alignment pretty bad. Neal dropped what he was doing and went to get his rig. Had us back up and running in no time. Fantastic job at a fair price! Thank you Neal! 5 Stars!Read the whole review

Had a repair done today on our old and cracked power tiller - Neal did a great job, and he came out for same day service! The welds in heavy metal look clean and thorough. Highly recommend!
Common questions

Can you weld at my place?
Yes. Driveways, shops, job sites and campgrounds. Let me know how close the truck can park, and send a photo so I bring the right equipment.
What if it's raining or windy?
Wind blows the shielding gas away from a MIG weld, which leaves it full of tiny holes and weak. Outdoors I weld with stick, which makes its own shield, so the repair keeps its strength in a breeze. Rain I work around, under cover or on a drier day.
What if it can't be fixed on site?
It comes to the McMinnville shop, where the larger builds are done.
Do you clean up after?
Yes. The work area is cleaned before I leave. If you'd like the repair painted, ask, and it goes into the quote.
